I am an "out-of-network" provider for all insurance plans. I do not take Medicare or Medicaid. My policy is that I ask for the fee at the time of service, and then I will file claims for you after six sessions if requested. If the insurance company reimburses me for your sessions, I will return that amount to you. Because every insurance plan has different reimbursement rates, you should contact your insurance provider to review your "out-of-network" mental health policy. You should also inquire about the consequences of filing for insurance reimbursement in terms of future insurability and confidentiality. If I file for you, I will be required to disclose private information to your insurance company about you and your treatment. Also, I have no subsequent control over this personal information after it is transmitted to your insurance representative.
My insurance policy is not intended to make it difficult for the client, but to allow me the clinical freedom needed to provide optimal care. By being an "out-of-network" provider, I can limit the amount of clinical information needed for reimbursement, while still utilizing insurance benefits.
